Florida Keys saltwater fishing charter boats: flats fishing, back country fishing, offshore fishing, deep sea fishing in the Florida Keys: sport fishing, fishing tournaments, fish for your dinner!
The Florida Keys is famous for world class fishing. What kind of fishing appeals to you? Backcountry or Offshore? Backcountry
fishing is a more relaxed experience. The best backcountry fishing guides have a special blend of talent, knowledge and skill as
they pilot you into the wilderness of the uninhabited Keys and mangrove shorelines of the Florida Bay or the Gulf. Common
catches in the backcountry flats include barracuda, redfish, shark, tarpon and bonefish. Other fish that one might catch includes
black drum, ladyfish, pompano, sheepshead, snapper, snook and trout.
For offshore fishing, you can choose from a Party Boat Charter ( Fishing Charter Boat ) or a Deep Sea ( Offshore ) Charter. A Deep
Sea or Offshore Charter will take you into the Gulf Stream for big game fishing if you are a novice and experienced angler looking
for challenging and exciting fishing. Usually at depths over 1000 feet, anglers will hunt for dolphin (Mahi Mahi), marlin, sailfish,
shark, tuna and wahoo.
Most anglers prefer the edge of the Gulf Stream. The Gulf Stream provides the Florida Keys with the perfect deep sea fishing
grounds. The Gulf stream is like a strong river flowing northward along the entire east coast of Florida. It's 25 to 40 miles in width
with a summertime temperature off Key West of 86F and a wintertime temperature off Jacksonville of 75F.
If you don't want to go all the way out to the Gulf Stream, a Party Boat Charter ( Fishing Charter Boat ) may be your best bet. This
would also be the best choice for a beginner fisherman or if you wanted to go for a half day only. Both half day and full-day trips
are available and some charters go out at night.
The captain will decide the best place to anchor depending on weather conditions, tide, the time of the year and the skill level of
the anglers. Fishing in shallow waters, anglers can expect to catch grouper, mangrove snapper, mutton, porgy, sheepshead and
yellowtail. Big grouper, bonito, cero, king mackerel, mutton snapper, sailfish, tuna, yellowtail and wahoo can be caught reef
fishing. At 130 to 200 feet you will find king mackerel, muttons, vermillion and lane snappers, larger porgy, mangrove, silk and
genuine red snappers. Fishing around wrecks will bring big amberjack, smoker kings, grouper and blacktip sharks.
Sportfishing with an experienced Captain and Crew that know which fish to fish for and where makes all the difference.
Chartering a luxury sportfishing boat, although somewhat expensive, may be a good choice for you if you are looking for a fishing
charter boat equipped with state-of-the-art electronics, comfortable air conditioned salons, and geared for all kinds of fishing. This
will only help make your day on the water unforgettable.
Upper Keys Fishing
The Upper Keys is the where you'll find the most charter fishing boats, marinas and tackle shops. Islamorada is called 'The
Fishing Capital of the World' and is where many celebrities and politicians come to vacation and partake in the world's best
sportsfishing. President George Bush, Sr., President Herbert Hoover, and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill are just a few
of the famous that have visited Islamorada.
Middle Keys Fishing
Off Marathon, Florida, there is an elevation in the ocean floor from 1,000 feet to a peak of 480 feet below sea level. This is called
the "Marathon Key West Hump" and is a very popular feeding ground for gamefish like blue and white marlin, mako shark,
amberjack and blackfin tuna. Private fishing charters frequent this spot for some of the best angler fishing in the world. Another
thing that makes the Marathon area so unique for fishing is that the Gulfside in the Middle Keys is deeper and more open than the
surrounding Keys. This helps on those days when it's too rough to fish on the oceanside. Six world record catches have been
made by anglers fishing with Marathon guides since 1991.
